The oil filter sits directly above the subframe, dumping a quart of oil onto the car with each change.

The passenger mirror’s “centered” position is halfway filled with the right side of the car. Moving it out to the proper blind spot location pushes it beyond its maximum range.

The B-pillars’ exterior trim pieces are barely attached with double-sided foam tape and starting to come off. They were replaced under warranty...in the exact same way as the factory, of course. So they’re coming off again.

Cruise control (a very key feature for a highway cruiser) moves +/-5mph when engaged, since 6th gear is so tall and gutless. You can’t force the car into 5th gear. AT ALL. (item 4b: No manual gear selection!)

Every exterior surface bends to the lightest touch — plastic, metal, other. It also dents with only minor contact.

The Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning camera (mounted in the windshield) often doesn’t function in normal summer heat. “CAMERA TOO HOT.”

The car is gigantic, but there is almost no storage anywhere. It’s like a mansion without a linen closet.

2015 model, but no HDMI, no Blu-Ray, and only one USB port in the car.

The car cannot be started without pressing the brake. That means no passengers can crank it up to cool the car down, nor can it be cranked up without the use of brake lights and DRLs. Stealth factor = zero.

Manual hood prop rod in an up-to-$45k car. What is this, the time of Charlemagne?

Sounds like someone spent way too much for a minivan.

Yes, about half the people in our town. We bought the mid-range model. But still...$35k.

Even my ‘61 Ford, with a non-dimming rear-view mirror, has a spring-loaded hood and thus no prop-rod required.

(At least there’s good resale value so you can trade it in and not get beaten up too badly..?)

That's pretty much the saving grace...if only we could slow down our Dent Acquisition Program :D

Huzzah! My 2013 Town and Country is killing it!

...and by it I mean O2 sensors. (Both right bank O2 sensors at 59k miles)

Other than that actually I don’t have issues with my van. The tires are a very odd size, but I just went with a similar size (.6% off) to get cheaper tires.

Oh and the side door got sticky from juice and will snag the weather-stripping and then cause the door to stop and close rather than open like I asked it to. Can’t really blame Chrysler for that one though. It was my kid’s orange juice.

I bought a used T&C and then upgraded that to a slightly less used Grand Caravan when the Pentastar came out. Both were loaded to the hilt and I paid high teens and low 20s for them. They were both great vehicles and the Stow and Go was always useful. The used Hondas weren’t much less than new ones and they didn’t seem to be as useful with out all the storage of the Chrysler twins.

Well, at least you didn’t buy a Passport or Ridgeline! :)

Oh, they still do. Especially the BOF ones. The margins are insane, but if people think the value is there, then they'll pay it.

Yeah, we shopped the T&C for about a year (no kidding) before finally moving to the Honda. The 2nd row seats were just better, since Stow&Go had to compromise a little on the cushioning and we wanted a middle seat in that row. I still say Stow & Go is the most useful feature of all time, on any car. But we keep the third row folded, and we have a garage for the 2nd row seats whenever necessary (5 minutes to remove). You just can’t convert on the fly like with Chrysler. The Honda has a bit better ride and noise levels. But the Chrysler kills everyone in value...except maybe the newer Kia, but that's apples & oranges in terms of age/generation. I'm genuinely excited about the new Pacifica.

My T&C was a rebuilt-title, used rental and it turned out to be a good car. I think if you take care of them well, especially monitoring the transmission fluid, they can last for a quite a long time.

I hope the new Pacifica turns out to be a good car, I would probably skip the first year, especially the plug-in hybrid.

In regards to 2, it always seems like people actually like their mirrors adjusted that way. It is like they don’t want to actually use the mirror to see traffic. If you can see any of your own car, it is too far in for normal driving.

Agreed, and very likely the result of some obscure focus group, too. I grew up in mostly German cars, where the manufacturer tells you what to do, not the customer s :D
